SUBJECT:  Fire Pump Enclosures Serving Multiple Buildings

OBJECTIVE: To provide clarification of local requirements for a separate building for fire pumps used for multiple buildings

BACKGROUND:

Damage to a building housing the fire pump for multiple buildings may mean that the pump will be out of service for several buildings instead of just the one.

POLICY/PROCEDURE:

When a fire pump is used for multiple buildings, the fire pump shall be housed in a building separate from the buildings it services. The fire pump enclosure shall be protected with an automatic supervised sprinkler system.
