Collier County Fire Prevention and Protection Code

POLICY AND PROCEDURE MANUAL

ARTICLE NUMBER:  FAL02-05

EFFECTIVE DATE:  August 31, 2002

SUBJECT:  Fire Alarm System Equipment Tests, Maintenance and Repair Reports

OBJECTIVE: To set policy for Collier County whereby all NFPA 72 inspection reports are to be forwarded to the local Authority Having Jurisdiction

BACKGROUND:

The Fire Districts desire to know of any problems found in the field by fire alarm contractors and to take a more pro-active role in ensuring that fire alarm systems are regularly maintained and deficiencies found in fire alarm systems are corrected within a reasonable period of time.  NFPA 72 states that records are maintained for the life of system for examination by any authority having jurisdiction.  This policy and procedure is designed to require all reports to be sent to the local AHJ.

POLICY/PROCEDURE:

The fire districts of Collier County require that all reports for inspections, tests, and maintenance of fire alarm systems be turned into the fire prevention office having jurisdiction within ten (10) working days from the date of the site visit whether the inspection, test or maintenance procedures are completed or not. This policy is not intended to conflict with FAC 4A – 48.005.
